About the production
Two men in an atmosphere of breathlessness, despair, silent writhing and clueless rebellion. A sandstorm-like desert of chairs in nowhere. One man lost in the need for companionship and seclusion, for human closeness and distance, and another tearing down the walls. While one falls headlong, the other catches him tenderly, hands him over to the solid ground.
This highly physical male duet surprises with haunting bodywork of an unusual kind – a finely tuned merging of circus and dance.
The duet was based on a scene from HeadFeedHands' 2010 full-length production " Almost There," choreographed/directed by Maya Carrol and Anne Hirth. Tim Behren and Florian Patschovsky were both performers and part of the HeadFeedHands artistic direction collective at the time. This production was co-produced by Flottmann-Hallen/City of Herne, supported by Theater Kunstdünger Valley and Belacqua Theater Wasserburg.
In 2011, Tim Behren and Florian Patschovsky, then under Overhead Project, further developed the five-minute duet into a ten-minute short piece that subsequently toured internationally. The further development under Overhead Project was low-budget and supported by LATIBUL Theater- & Zirkuspädagogisches Zentrum Köln (formerly ZAK Zirkus- und Artistikzentrum Köln).
