A duet by the dancer Mijin Kim with a 100kg pommel horse hanging from the ceiling.
“Circular Vertigo” deals with the geometric shape of the circle as the archetype of the attraction and occupies it with the meeting of a (pommel) horse and a dancer in a circular setting
A dynamic encounter in which a delicate virtuosity develops between the dancer Mijin Kim and the massive pommel horse. A wild dance, a gentle approach, dangerous tumbling and triumphant flights of fancyness.
Emerging from the equestrian art of the 18th century, especially women in the circus, i.a. as celebrated artist stars on horses, found a place far away from classic family roles. Through the playful occupation of the center with an abstract power object Overhead Project reflects a social space in which female creative freedom, equal treatment and self-determination have to be worked out again and again.
